For the last few years, I have served on the VATSIM Board of Governors as the VP for Pilot Training. My primary responsibility includes development of a comprehensive training package and rating system for pilots on the VATSIM network. A good part of this web server is dedicated to that effort.
Flight simulation has interested me since the first versions of personal computer driven flight simulator programs. I can’t remember a period of my life in which aviation was not of interest to me. My first real experience in aviation occurred in the mid 60s during a high school class that was basically a ground school that included a few flights. One of my regrets in life is having not fulfilled the dream of obtaining a real world license.
In the real world, I am employed by a very large telecommunications company. We have just merged again and now operate under the original company name I started with nearly 30 years ago, AT&T. During my time with “the telephone company”, I have been fortunate to have worked in many areas of the business. I started out selling advertising in our telephone directories, worked as a lineman, construction supervisor, cable repair supervisor, operation center manager (in several capacities), preventive maintenance manager for outside telephone facilities, engineer, and currently working in regulatory.
I am pleased that you visited this web site, and hope those of you with an interest in flight simulation either join us on VATSIM, or better yet join me in developing training resources on my Training Development Wiki here on the mBevNet website.
